Industry Forum
Dear Industry Partner, The IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (IES) offers a broad focus of technology areas in the industrial electronics scope including power, robotics, sensor and control systems, automation, transportation and the computation and communication infrastructure to support these technologies. From 7-10 November 2011 the society will sponsor one of its premier conferences, IECON 2011 at the Crown Conference Centre in Melbourne, Australia. As the IES is one of the world’s most geographically diverse professional societies, a typical ISIE attracts about 500-700 industrial electronics specialists from around the world, with attendees comprising an international mix of academic professionals, industry professionals, and students. Industry participation in IES activities is of increasing importance and value to the IEEE and to industry. To encourage and highlight industry involvement, the IES hosts the IEEE IES Industry Forum in conjunction with its major conferences, IECON and ISIE. The Industry Forum will be held on Tuesday 8 November and Wednesday 9 November 2011 and is a presentation series that focuses on industry requirements, product directions, standards, and use cases in industrial electronics. Topic areas align to the technology areas for the IES, but also include market segments into which applications of industrial electronics technologies are expanding, such as robots and sensors in consumer products. The Industry Forum goes beyond discussions of immediate products, visions, and standards to include forward-reaching exchanges on technical market directions. Target speakers are from industry or groups working closely with industry. Additional information about, and the history of, the IES Industry Forum can be found at http://www.iesforum.com An additional opportunity for industrial participation is that of a small financial assistance, which may couple with associated exhibits or other suitable recognition at the IECON 2011 conference. One option would be with exhibitions and recognition as proposed. We of course would welcome any contribution and would recognize accordingly. Alternative examples of support include funding the dinner, reception, or items such as proceedings distributions on memory sticks. Financial contribution is not required to be involved in the Industry Forum, however, this small contribution keeps this forum alive and a focus on industry needs and directions. Please feel free to contact any of us and discuss your potential interests in presentations and contributions. Best regards, Michael Condry, Chair Industry Forum
